Rev. David Leonard, Jr.

John 14:27  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  

Reverend David Leonard, Jr. was born on October 29,1939 in Boykin, South Carolina to the late David (Big Boy) and Lillie Mae Davis Leonard. He attended Jackson school in Camden and retired from Kershaw County Public works after many years of service.

David Leonard, Jr. was an active member of St. Stephen Baptist Church where he founded the sunbeam choir, became Deacon, was Sunday School Superintendent, served on the usher board and served the church for many years. Later, he moved his membership to Community Baptist Church, where he acknowledged his calling into the ministry. David Leonard, Jr was licensed and ordained to preach the gospel from Community Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife Willie Mae Leonard.

Reverend Leonard departed this life on February 27, 2021.

Reverend David Leonard, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory, a wife, Bertha Leonard; four daughters, Stephanie Haynesworth, Ronetta Brown of Camden South Carolina, Barbara Woodard of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Gaynelle Powell  of Lugoff, South Carolina ; three sons, Stephan Leonard  and Aysa Leonard of Camden South Carolina and Juan Leonard of Sumter, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren, Kenneth, Teyonia, and Chavis Haynesworth, Kriztopher and Mauri Leonard, Lawanda and Patrick Smith, Jason Bennett, Pamela Johnson, Dominique and Ta-Juan Leonard, and Damion Powell; eleven great grand; one aunt, Ella L. Davis and a host of special nieces, nephews, loving relatives and friends.

We the family of Reverend David Leonard, Jr. would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time.

Due to COVID the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
