Mary Frances Mingo

It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Mrs. Mary F. Mingo who entered into rest June 15, 2021 in White Plains, NY.

Mary Frances Mingo was born on October 16, 1935, in Camden, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Allen and Daisy Whitaker. She was the sister of Allen “Bubba” Whitaker, Earnest Whitaker, Lucille Adams, and Fannie Mae White. She was the wife of Johnnie Mingo and the mother of Ronald Mingo, Johnnie Mae Council “Tina”, and Carol Mingo.

After surviving a stroke on May 5th, Mrs. Mingo’s health started to turn into a series of unfortunate events. She was later admitted to Burke Rehabilitation Center where she started her physical and speech therapy when about a week later she became anemic and showed signs of internal blood loss. Not too long thereafter, she suffered a series of seizures. Throughout these uncomfortable situations, she still had a smile on her face and a laugh here and there. Mrs. Mingo gained her wings at 11:05pm on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at White Plains Hospital in White Plains, New York.

Mrs. Mingo had a giving heart and she touched everyone that she came into contact with. If she had it, she would give it and she was blessed abundantly in return. Walking in her calling, she dedicated her life to helping people as she was a Registered Nurse for over 32 years, receiving accolades from St. Barnabas Hospital at her 25- year mark back in January 1990. In her latter days, she would always tell her grandson, “Lamont, God has showed His promise of threescore years and ten and I am grateful.”

Those left to mourn her sad passing are her sister, Lucille Adams of Queens, NY, daughter, Carol Mingo of Columbia, SC, grandson, Thomas Lamont Duren of Bronx, NY, grand daughters, LaRonda and Kieana Mingo of Columbia, SC, four great grandchildren, nephew, Gregory Adams of Bronx, NY, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.

Funeral services will held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Gaines Baptist Church.  Mask and Social Distancing will be observed.
