It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Ms. Julia Ann Slater who entered into rest September 9, 2021 at Palmetto Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care.
Ms. Slater was the daughter of the late James, Sr. and Catherine Slater. She was born and raised in Rembert, SC and attended Sumter County Schools. As an adult, she moved to Columbia, SC where she lived and worked.
After retiring she returned home to Rembert. Julia gave her life to Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Rembert.
After falling ill, she became a resident of Palmetto Ridge Assisted Living in Cheraw, SC.
Julia was a wonderful soul. She was honest and outspoken. She never hesitated to tell you how she felt and gave wisdom and knowledge of her life experiences on this earth. She was always willing to help anyone and always willing to lend a prayer for anyone in need. She will greatly be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, James, Jr., affectionately known as "Bo."
Julia leaves to celebrate her memory three brothers, William Bruce and David Bruce both of Baltimore, MD, and Larry (Patricia) Bruce of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Willie Mae Foster and Barbara (Al) Dais both of Baltimore, MD; and a host of devoted family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Lorenzo Dinkins officiating.
