Herbert Albert Moore was born December 19, 1950 to the late Albert and Ella Davis Moore in Boykin, South Carolina. “Smokey” as affectionally known departed this earthly life on December 12, 2020 at his home.
“Smokey” accepted Christ at a very early age and joined St. Stephens Baptist Church. “Smokey” worked various jobs during his lifetime. To name a few, he was employed at Hermitage Mill, Howard Johnson Trucking Company and retired from the Camden Humane Society.
“Smokey” loved basketball and loved being with family and friends. He always kept a smile on his face but was a man of few words but could be heard when he spoke.
“Smokey” met and married Gladys Carolyn Moore and with this union, one daughter was born.
“Smokey” leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 44 years, Gladys Carolyn Moore; one daughter Katurah (Johnny) Gause of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Josephine Jenkins of Rembert, SC, and Mary Bledsoe of Camden, SC; two brothers, Robert Ed (Margie) Moore and Jonathan Moore of Rembert, SC; one grandson, JaQuen Jefferson of Rembert, SC; two granddaughters, Jhanee Jefferson and Jhaniya Gause of Columbia, SC; two great grandsons, Bryson Johnson of Columbia, SC and Jakeem Jefferson of Lancaster, SC; one special niece, that always made him laugh, Sebrinia Moore of Borden, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at St. Stephen Baptist Church. Mask and Social Distancing will be observed.
