It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Donald B. Fleming, Sr. who entered into rest September 15, 2021 at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown.
Mr. Fleming, a native of Kershaw County, is the son of Mrs. Mary Jane Fleming and the late Melvin Fleming, Sr.
Donald, also know as, "Duck" graduated from Lugoff-Elgin High School in 1975. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He then moved on to become a truck driver and a logger for 30 plus years, working in the family business (Fleming Logging.) He was an extremely hard worker who enjoyed working on cars and farming in his spare time.
He was preceded in death by his father, elder sister, Diane Bernice Fleming and infant sister, Janet Mari Fleming. Donald was raised in a loving Christian home.
Donald's presence will be greatly missed by all who lives and cared for him.
Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Mary Jane Stoney Fleming; four sons, Tyonne Hayes, Marcus Hayes, Donald Fleming, Jr., and Delquan (Maisha) Lee; three daughters, Vanaye (Brian) Allen, Kelsey Fleming, and Karina McGee; seven grandchildren, Aaliya Allen, Kendall Hayes, Malcolm Mayhew, Mellenie Mayhew, Jayden Fleming, Madison Lee, and Bryson Lee; two sisters, Patricia and Jocelyn Fleming; five brothers, Melvin Fleming, Jr., Nathaniel (Rosetta) Fleming, Dennis Fleming, Darren Fleming, and Ronald Fleming; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 on the grounds of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
