It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Ms. Delores M. Chapman who entered into rest Monday, September 27, 2021 at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center.
Delores Marie Chapman, affectionately known as “Lori”, was born May 3,1955 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Mary Hayes Chapman and Melvin Chapman, Sr.
Lori completed her education in the public schools of Brooklyn, NY. Her education continued onto Brooklyn College majoring in Early Childhood Education. She received her early religious training at Cornerstone Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities. Years later, she relocated to Camden, SC where she joined St. Paul United Methodist Church.
While in New York, Lori was employed by New York City Transit. After relocating to Camden, SC she was employed by several different companies, her most recent employer was Wal-Mart in Camden, SC. Lori was known for her contagious laugh and a voice that demanded attention. She dedicated her life to her family and helping others. Lori loved cooking for her family, most famous for her meatballs and deviled eggs.
Those preceding her in death are brothers, Joseph Hayes and Melvin Chapman Jr. and nephew Gerald Chapman.
Those left to cherish her precious memories: her loving son, Robert Clarke of the home; one sister, Helen Chapman of Brooklyn, NY; one brother, Jeffrey (Dorlene) Chapman of Bishopville, SC, one granddaughter, Shania Clarke of Florence, SC (affectionately known to her grandmother as Boo-Boo); special cousin Tony (Gladys) Williams of Camden, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Lori was a sweet loving person; she never met a stranger. To know Lori was to love her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Paul United Methodist Church (Knights Hill.) Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
