It is with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Deacon Roosevelt Patterson of 1291 Black River Rd, Camden.
Deacon Roosevelt Patterson was born January 29, 1942 in Sumter, SC to the late Emma Patterson Hand and Sam Patterson. He was called home to eternal rest on May 20, 2019
Roosevelt “Turtle Man” Patterson drove trucks professionally for almost 50 years. He was an entrepreneur that owned his own trucking company, as well as, marketing fresh produce. He was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church where served as an Ordained Deacon. He served as a proud member of St. Peters Masonic Lodge in Hartford, CT. He enjoyed fishing and loved animals. Most of all, he loved his family, and if he wasn’t at home, you knew he was out visiting friends and family. He was truly a loving father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his mother: Emma Patterson; his father: Sam Patterson; his wife: Pamela Patterson; two sisters: Deloris Alston and Carrie Lee Butts; two brothers: Steven Patterson and Samuel Patterson; and a daughter: Mary Frances Alexander.
Roosevelt leaves behind to cherish his memory three children: David Patterson, Brenden Patterson, and Patrice Moses; three grandchildren: Ruby Gary, Aaliyah Moses, and Kayden Moses; one sister: Christine Hopkins; a Godson: Mike Workman; special nieces: Lois Michelle Fedd and Valerie Patterson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 3:00 PM at St. John Baptist Church in Camden. The body will be placed in the church for viewing one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday.
Family and friends may call or visit at the residence.
