Mr. Sam David "Bo" Richardson was born on July 17, 1939 in Lugoff, SC to the late Sumpter and Julia Richardson. He was the eldest of thirteen children. He attended elementary school at Booker T. Washington in Columbia, SC and Oak Grove Junior High School in Blaney, SC. He graduated from Jackson High School in Camden, SC. After a brief illness, Sam departed this earthly life on May 16, 2016 in Brooklyn, NY.
A funeral service will be held in New York, directed by R. Steven LeGall Home for Funerals.
Local services will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sutton Branch Baptist Church in Lugoff. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Bo met his late wife, Susie Richardson, after moving to New York.
Sam leaves to celebrate the memory of his life; his special companion, Ms. Desiree Hannibal of Brooklyn, NY; children, Randee (James) Frank of Queens, NY, Antoinette Gordon, Kris Burgess both of Brooklyn, Kenneth (Renee) Lawson of Columbia, SC, Jackie (Lucinda) Wilson of Camden, SC, Michael Peay Richardson of Columbia, SC, Reginald Richardson of Atlanta, Ga, Edward (Blondie) Richardson of Camden, SC; sisters, Hannah Stephens, Veanetta Richardson both of Columbia, SC, Bernice Richardson, Vivian Moore, Josanne (Larry) Cantey all of Lugoff, SC; brothers-in-law, Louis Stephens of Mt. Vernon, NY, John Houston of Hopkins, SC; aunts, Ellen Currence of St. Albans, NY, Fannie Hudson of Camden, Hattie Richardson of Lugoff; uncle, Julius Speights (Liz) of Camden; 30 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by the following; two sons, Christopher and Craig Richardson of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Dorothy Houston and Julia Pearl Richardson, and one brother, Sumpter Richardson all of Columbia.
Friends and family may call at the residence of his sister Hannah Stephens, 903 Plyler Ln, Columbia, SC.
