Joseph Nathan
Boyd
Nov 13, 1937 — Jan 10, 2020
Isiah 57:2 Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they rest as they lie in death.
It is with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Joseph N. Boyd of Hartsville, SC, formerly of Bethune.
Mr. Joseph Nathan Boyd was born on November 13, 1937 in Lee County, SC to the late Eugene and Mary Felder Boyd. He transitioned into eternal rest on January 10, 2020 at Morrell Rehabilitation/Nursing Center in Hartsville, SC.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Bethel Worship Center in Camden. Interment was held at Corbett Cemetery in Bishopville.
Joseph was educated in a "One room school house" in Lee County.
He began his Christian walk at an early age, was baptized and became a member of Scape Ore Baptist Church. He attended faithfully until his health declined. Even then, he would attend St. Matthew Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B. W. Freeman.
Joseph was very quiet and kept to himself. He didn't bother anybody and didn't want anybody bothering him. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Almeter (Willie) Robinson and Clara Bell (Andrew) Magazine; a brother: Daniel Boyd; a brother-in-law: Dave Haggins, Sr.; six nephews: Andrew Magazine, Jr., Steven, Richard, and Doug Magazine, Freddie Lee, and Herbert Robinson; and a niece: Amie Magazine Ruth.
He leaves to cherish his memories; a sister: Jessie Boyd Haggins of Bethune, SC; a niece/caretaker: Cynthia Haggins-Atkinson, and his "sidekick" nephew: Jalen Ge'Kharri Atkinson of Bethune, SC; nieces: Mary (James) Green, Martha (Greg) Aiken, Willene (Robbie) Brooks, and Almeter (Willie) Harrison; nephews: Ernest Magazine, Nathaniel Magazine, Dave (Debra) Haggins, Dennis (Brenda) Haggins, Ronnie (Tricia) Robinson, James (Sarah) Robinson, Leroy (Mary) Robinson, and Lavern Robinson; and a host of other relatives and friends, as well as, three special friends: Bobby Haggins, Laura Jefferson Toney, and Mary Jefferson Corbett.
