Jimmie was born June 9, 1928 in Winter Garden, Florida to Meta McFarland Aldrich and Bill Aldrich. Orphaned at an early age, he was raised by his grandparents Bishop Samuel and Martha McFarland.  He departed this life on October 14, 2015 at MUSC in Charleston.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories; children Cheryl A. Backus (Walter), Carol A. Williams (Kalvin) and Jeffrey Aldrich; grandchildren Kierra Williams, Calvin Williams, Jr. and Rodney Backus; great-grandchildren Casis, Nyla and Brooklyn; a brother Hersey Mack (Marilyn); nephew Dale Mack Ernest Adams, Jr. (Linda); great nephews Carlton Adams (Katrina), Eric Adams (Courtney); great-great nephews, Xavier and Chase, and a host of other family and friends.
