Vannetta Drakeford Obituary

Psalm 31:24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

It is with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Mrs. Vannetta Drakeford.  Mrs. Drakeford entered into rest on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at her residence.

Vannetta Drakeford, affectionately known as “Nett”, is the daughter of the late Columbus Williams, Sr. and Elizabeth Williams.  She was born in Kershaw County of February 11, 1930 and was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County.

“Nett” joined the Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age where she served faithfully until she relocated to Englewood, NJ where she joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church.  She was a member of the Pastor’s Aide, and a member of the Senior and Mass Choirs. She served there faithfully until she relocated back to Camden, SC, and she quickly rejoined Macedonia and attended until her health began to fail.  However, her faith never wavered.  Vannetta never met a stranger.  You were either family or a friend.  She was loved by everyone that met her.

Those left to cherish her fond memories include three daughters: Magglen Drakeford of Camden, SC, Patricia Sue Drakeford of Hackensack, NJ, and Patricia Ann Drakeford of Englewood, NJ; one son: Tony J. Drakeford of Hackensack, NJ; three sisters: Sallie Van Ness of Key Port, NJ, Gloria Williams and Barbara (Doctor) Isaiah of Camden, SC; two brothers: Albert (Gloria) Williams of Cassatt, SC, and Columbus (Madeline) Williams, Jr. of Camden, SC; nine grandchildren: Akem, Rahema, Isaiah, Robert, Tony, Tia, Tito, Damien, and Kenya all of New Jersey; nine great-grandchildren; one aunt: Lottie Mae Drakeford of Westville, SC; her best friends and confidants: Joan Lahren, Jannetta Taylor, and Barbara Buyers.
