It with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Mrs. Gwendolyn R. Johnson of 986 John Eddye Rd, Cassatt. Mrs. Johnson entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland.
Gwendolyn Yvonne Richards Johnson was born on October 10, 1952 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Cornelia Richards-Adamson (Dan.) She was the granddaughter of the late Randolph (Sarah) Richards.
She was educated in the schools of Kershaw County and graduated from Jackson High School in 1970. Gwen later moved to Atlanta, Georgia where she gained employment as a Presser for a number of years before moving back to Camden.
Gwen was not a sports-minded person, but she loved to sing and entertain her family and friends. She was a kind-hearted, loving person whose favorite song was “Oh Happy Day.”
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband of 16 years, Richard Johnson of Cassatt, SC; a daughter: Pearline McLeod; her mother-in-law: Gertrude Johnson of Camden, SC; a brother-in-law: Albert Lee Johnson (Toshia) of Sumter, SC; three siblings: Jacquelyn Vanessa Richardson of Covington, Ga, Dan William Adamson, Jr. of Lexington, KY, and Datphyne Lynette Adamson of Camden, SC; two uncles: Lewis Doby of Camden, SC and Robert Adamson of Orlando, FL; seven aunts Earlene Reid Peterson (Charles) of Stockbridge, Ga, Jessie L. Richards of Covington, Ga, Elease K. Richards of Camden, SC, Alice Faye Richards of Newark, NJ, Barbara Jean Richards of Brooklyn, NY, Ester Johnson of Camden, SC , and Diane Ervin of Henderson, NV; The Pollard and Johnson Families; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
