It is with profound sympathy that we announce the passing of Ms. Diana B. Fleming. Ms. Fleming entered into rest on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at her residence. She was born on July 10, 1951 in Lugoff, South Carolina, the eldest daughter of Mary Jane Stoney Fleming and the late Melvin Fleming, Sr. She was preceded in death by her father and infant sister, Janet Mari Fleming. Diana was raised in a loving Christian home.
Diana was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Lugoff, South Carolina. She was a former member of the choir and President of the Usher Board for over 40 years. She was also a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP.) Diana graduated from Jackson High School in 1969. Right after high school, she worked at Jacqline Hoisery Mill in Camden, South Carolina. After working 40 plus years at HBD Thermoid in Elgin, she retired on January 30, 2014.
Diana’s presence will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Those left to cherish her memories are her Mother, Mary Jane Stoney Fleming; one daughter: Mrs. Shalanda (James) McMillian of Dillon, SC; one son: Nicholas Jones (Fiancee Brittany) of Honolulu, Hawaii; on grandson: Paris Fleming of Elkridge, MD; two sisters: Patricia and Jocelyn Fleming both of Lugoff, SC; six brothers: Melvin Fleming, Jr., Nathaniel Fleming (Rosetta), Donald, Dennis, and Darren Fleming all of Lugoff, SC, and Ronald Fleming of Camden, SC; sisters-in-law: Eloise Fleming and Renee Fleming; brother-in-law: Charles Blanding; aunts and uncles: Beulah Hill, Inez Stoney, Mittie (Sammie) Burris, Jessie Lee Stoney, Virginia (Isaac) James, Vermell (Rev. Marion) Bennett, Albertha Ratliff, Sam (Thelma) Fleming, Charlene Fleming, Juanita Fleming, Eliza Fleming, Marie Fleming, Robert (Mary) Stoney, and George (Eleanor) Stoney; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Lugoff. The body will be placed in the church for viewing one hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
