Bernice Heath Obituary

Mrs. Bernice V. Heath of 211 Windsong Drive in Lugoff entered into rest on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at her residence.

Bernice Victoria Heath was born March 3, 1939 in New Haven, CT.  Bernice retired from Yale University in 1983 where she worked as a computer operator and administrative assistant.  While living in Connecticut, she attended Immanuel Baptist Church where she was an active participant in various auxiliaries.

In 1982, while attending a Christian education conference in Milwaukee, WI, she met her soon to be husband, Adolphus Heath. They married in 1983 and Bernice relocated to Compton, CA where she continued her work as an administrative assistant at California State University @ Dominquez Hills. While living in California, Bernice was an active member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

After moving south in 1990, Bernice enjoyed her work as a faithful substitute in the ROTC department at Lugoff-Elgin High School.  Since her arrival, Bernice was a constant member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where she played the piano for the young people’s choir for many years.  Bernice’s most favorite hobbies were traveling, shopping and decorating.  “Jewel tones” is what she would say, “you must decorate with jewel tones.”

Bernice was predeceased by her parents Bishop Henry H. Green, Sr. & Queen Victoria Green, a brother, Henry H. Green, Jr and three sisters, Lily Mae Lowe, Annie Mae Doggans and Lucille DeBerry.  She leaves to mourn her memories, the love of her life for 35 years Adolphus Heath.  Siblings James Green & Barbara Dozier of New Haven, CT.  Her legacy continues on through her three children, L’Tanya Roach (Robert), Terri Butts (Edward) & Christopher Tolliver.  Seven grandchildren, Quiana (Shonne), Robert (Nichole), Ryan (Adria), Dana (Richard), Cameron (Tracy), Karissa & Christy. Seven great-grandchildren, Shonne, Jordan, Ryan, Xavier, Aiden, Donovan & Ariah.  Bernice loved her family more than anything and especially her children and grand babies.
